Feeling hot and sticky lately? Same here ๐
When summer hits hard, there's nothing better than a big glass of icy cooling tea โ the kind that doesn't just quench your thirst, but actually helps your body chill out from the inside.
I've been making my own herbal-style summer teas at home, and let me tell you: game. changer. ๐
Today I'm sharing my go-to homemade summer cooling tea recipe โ it's light, soothing, super refreshing, and made with ingredients you probably already have or can easily find!
๐ฟ What's "cooling tea" anyway?
Cooling teas are herbal infusions that help reduce inner heat. In hot seasons, our bodies can feel sluggish or overheated โ especially if we eat a lot of fried or spicy food (guilty ๐โโ๏ธ). This kind of tea helps balance that out naturally, without caffeine or sugar overload.
๐ต My Favorite Cooling Tea Blend
Here's what I usually use:
โข Dried chrysanthemum flowers (1 tablespoon) โ for that gentle floral, detox-like effect
โข Goji berries (a small handful) โ slightly sweet and nourishing
โข Dried honeysuckle or mulberry leaves (optional) โ helps with heat relief
โข 1โ2 slices of fresh ginger โ sounds odd, but it balances the cooling herbs nicely
โข Rock sugar or honey (optional) โ just a tiny bit if you like a hint of sweetness
๐ซ How to Make It
1. Rinse the dried herbs lightly with warm water.
2. Add everything into a teapot or heatproof jar.
3. Pour in hot water (around 90ยฐC) and let it steep for 15โ20 minutes.
4. Strain the tea and let it cool to room temp.
5. Chill it in the fridge or pour it over ice cubes โ enjoy!
๐ก Pro tip: If you make a bigger batch, you can store it in a glass bottle in the fridge for up to 2 days!
โจ Why I Love It
Besides being super hydrating, this tea gives me that calm, refreshed feeling โ especially after a long walk in the heat or when I've had a heavy meal. No caffeine crashes, no artificial flavors. Just clean, herbal goodness ๐ซ
And honestly? It feels like I'm treating myself to a little spa moment every time I sip it.
Let's beat the heat together! ๐ฅ๐ง
