Discovering the Massif des Bauges

The Massif des Bauges, located between Annecy and Chambéry, is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. With its dramatic mountain scenery, lush forests, and charming villages, this park is perfect for hiking, cycling, and enjoying the great outdoors. The park spans over 83,000 hectares and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourists and families.

1. La Féclaz

One of our favorite spots in the park is La Féclaz, a charming alpine village known for its stunning views and outdoor activities. In winter, it transforms into a ski resort, while in summer, it becomes a haven for hikers and mountain bikers.

Opening Hours: La Féclaz is accessible year-round, with the best time to visit being from June to September for hiking.

Ticket Prices: Access to the village is free, but various activities like skiing or mountain biking may have separate fees.

During our visit to La Féclaz, we took a leisurely hike to the Col de la Buffaz, where the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains left us speechless. The trail was well-marked and easy to follow, making it perfect for all skill levels. As we reached the summit, we were greeted with a breathtaking vista that felt like a reward for our efforts. We were particularly excited to try out the “Sentier des Hêtres”, a beautiful trail lined with ancient beech trees. The hike was enchanting; we felt like we were walking through a fairytale. As we wandered through the park, we encountered various animals native to the region, including deer, marmots.
